Group and local leaders meet with finance chief to discuss financial inclusion, digital innovation, and greater access to protection for Filipinos
MANILA, Philippines — As the Philippines continues to grow and expand financial participation, FWD is strengthening efforts to broaden access to protection, financial education, and digital solutions that help improve Filipinos’ financial well-being.
The insurer sees the Philippines as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic markets, with significant opportunities to expand access to financial protection and accelerate innovation in financial services. As more Filipinos build incomes, businesses, and assets, the need for protection becomes increasingly important to help safeguard financial progress and support long-term financial security.
This focus was reinforced during a recent dialogue between Department of Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go and FWD Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Huynh Thanh Phong, FWD Group Senior Managing Director, Southeast Asia Binayak Dutta, and FWD Life Insurance Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Soon Liang Lau. Discussions centered on financial inclusion, digital innovation, and opportunities to strengthen financial protection for Filipinos.
FWD believes expanding access to protection goes hand in hand with improving financial literacy and insurance education. By helping people better understand financial risks and make informed decisions, more Filipinos can take steps to protect their families, income, and future goals.
“Growth creates new opportunities for Filipinos, but it also underscores the importance of protection,” said Soon Liang Lau, President and Chief Executive Officer of FWD Life Insurance Philippines. “Our focus is to make insurance easier to understand, more accessible, and more relevant through customer-led, tech-enabled solutions that meet the evolving needs of Filipino families. Whether it’s a young professional building a career, an entrepreneur growing a business, or an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) supporting loved ones back home, protection helps people secure the progress they have worked hard to achieve. By combining innovation, financial education, and protection, we aim to create a positive impact on the financial well-being of more Filipinos.”
FWD continues to invest in digital capabilities and customer-focused innovation to simplify the insurance journey from learning about protection to purchasing and managing coverage. These efforts support broader financial inclusion by helping make insurance more accessible, convenient, and relevant to the needs of today’s consumers.
