Making Chinese New Year celebrations even more exceptional with The Dalmore King Alexander III

Some moments are simply meant to be celebrated extraordinarily.

As we welcome the ‘Year of the Ox’ this Chinese New Year, there’s no better way to rekindle the bond with family, friends, and the people dear to us than by sharing a timeless gift that transcends generations—The Dalmore King Alexander III.

Garbed in a limited edition Chinese New Year packaging, this exceptional creation showcases cask curation at its finest. This hallmark attribute, which is rooted in the refined craftsmanship associated with The Dalmore, becomes even more pronounced with The Dalmore King Alexander III’s distinction as the world’s first single malt whisky to create an assemblage of six cask finishes.

“This pioneering expression is truly a fitting reward for those with the courage to stand apart and make a difference,” says The Dalmore Master Distiller Richard Paterson.

A marriage of flavors

Bringing an added dimension to Chinese New Year celebrations is the coming together of flavors, both exquisite and diverse, which you can achieve by pairing The Dalmore King Alexander III with your favorite Chinese cuisine. The strong and rich flavor profile of this single malt whisky comes as a perfect complement to a variety of Cantonese dishes, whether it be pork, beef, or even seafood.

The secret lies in finding the perfect balance and intensity of flavors, aroma, and texture from the whisky and your preferred dish, then reveling in the experience and appreciating the art and history of everything that went into creating this phenomenal piece from The Dalmore Principal Collection.

A heritage of bravery and creativity

The Dalmore Heritage dates back to 1263.  It was in this year that Colin of Kintail, Chief of Mackenzie, was granted to use the 12 pointed stag emblem for saving the life of King Alexander III from the fury of the charging stag.  When descendants of the Clan became owner of the Dalmore Distillery in 1867, the Royal Stag became the recognizable icon that proudly adorns each bottle of the Dalmore today; an emblem which encapsulates a rich past whilst also embodying a promise that The Dalmore will remain at the pinnacle of single malt.

Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, The Dalmore King Alexander III is apportioned between small batch ex-bourbon casks, Matusalem oloroso sherry casks, Madeira barrels, Marsala casks, Port Pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon . These are then brought in an in-situ sherry butt.

On the nose, The Dalmore King Alexander III reveals an aroma of red berry fruits and hints of passion fruit. The liquid imparts hints of citrus zest, vanilla pod, crème caramel, and crushed almonds, before finishing off with the rich, enticing aftertaste of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

The Dalmore King Alexander III recently received a Gold Award at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge.
