Chery Auto PH 2021 sales rise 223% over 2020

Thanks to the growing public awareness about CHERY and its formidable range of crossovers and SUVs, sales of the fast-growing brand zoomed up by a substantial 223% for the calendar year 2021 compared to 2020.

The steep growth reflects the strong demand for the company’s line of SUVs, spearheaded by the subcompact Tiggo 2, which registered a 163% increase,  the Tiggo 5X, which posted a 145% increase, and last year’s all-new compact turbocharged Tiggo 7 Pro, which delivered a huge 205% growth. Even the brand’s flagship, the midsize 7-seater turbocharged Tiggo 8, posted a notable 62% growth.

Credit to the healthy growth goes to CHERY Auto Philippines’ aggressive sales and marketing efforts as well as its fast-growing dealership network that has sustained its growth despite the challenges of the pandemic including lockdowns, heightened alert levels, and even successive monsoons and typhoons. To date, the CHERY network has expanded into 21 full-service dealerships nationwide—unprecedented for a new brand that debuted just over two years ago.

“We are determined to offer precisely the models that Filipino car buyers are looking for,” said Chery Auto Philippines President Erroll Duenas. “Filipinos need dependable, safe, yet affordable vehicles and we are proud to have the right mix of value-packed models with luxury, comfort, and safety features to suit any requirement or budget,” he added.

Leading the sales charge is the Tiggo 2 subcompact SUV, which is now available in head-turning two-tone colors with black roof and pillars in the original model as well as the new 2022-model Tiggo 2 Pro with updated styling and an all-new 9-speed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The Tiggo 2 is powered by a Euro 5-compliant 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine and comes in manual (P695,000) and automatic (P770,000) variants. The new Tiggo 2 Pro AT retails for P818,000.

One level higher is the higher-spec’d Tiggo 5x subcompact SUV which shares the Tiggo 2’s drivetrain and also comes in manual (P818,000) and automatic (P860,000) versions. A fully loaded (with sunroof and a generous array of comfort and convenience features) Tiggo 5X Luxury comes at a price of P970,000.

One size higher is the all-new Tiggo 7 Pro, powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine boasting 145hp and 210Nm of torque and an automatic transmission. This head-turner is equipped with a panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen with 360-degree view monitoring, Apple Carplay and Mirrorlink Connectivity. It also has a wireless mobile charger, Auto hold + EPB, automatic tailgate opening, and surrounds airbags for total convenience and safety. The Tiggo 7 Pro retails for P1,198,000.

Acclaimed as the first smartwatch-controlled car in the Philippines, the 7-seater Tiggo 8 also surprises new car buyers with its premium build quality and luxury car features. It also has a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, available in automatic and priced at P1,280,000. An even more fully loaded Tiggo 8 Luxury EX goes for P1,340,000.

The brand is bullish for 2022, especially as it announces the CHERY Year of the Growling Tiggo Promo for January that offers all-in down payments as low as P28,000, monthly payments as low as P5,435, or cash discounts as much as P130,000, depending on the model.

Equally compelling reasons to buy a Tiggo is CHERY’s Premium Preserv, the brand’s industry-leading warranty and PMS program, which boasts a 10-year/1 million-km engine warranty, a 5-year general warranty, 3-year roadside assistance, and a FREE full preventive maintenance service (PMS) for 3 years.
